"Art of Texas"

I'm part of the "Art of Texas" section in the March 2014 Southwest Art magazine. Here are the opening pages. It pays to have a name whose spelling starts with one of the first few letters of the alphabet, at least in an alphabetical order situation.

Although I've painted a lot of Texas landscapes, the piece shown in the story represents a New Mexico subject. Nevertheless, I think my Texas bona fides are pretty sound. I've lived here all but one of my years. Other examples of landscapes, from all over, can be seen here.

Cemetery

A sad event took us back to my hometown for awhile Saturday. While there we visited the town cemetary, always a great place to find strange architecture. I don't like to comment much about most photographs, letting the viewer fill in whatever details he/she wants.

Happy Valentines Day

The art blog Altpick.com is celebrating Valentines Day by showing my mixed media/digital piece "Sing", along with work by many other artists.

If you want a valentine I hope you have/get one. I recommend it; I've had the same one for 26 years.

"Remote Viewing" talk and closing.

This past weekend I talked to the students and faculty at Eastern New Mexico University, in conjunction with my show "Remote Viewing" at the university's Runnels Gallery. Everyone was great and we had a great time. Thanks again to the good folks at ENMU for the opportunity.

Here are some pics from the event.

The gallery, and throughout the library which hosted the gallery,
had this cool vintage (and very valuable) furniture.

Here are Brad Hamann, Mary Fanelli Ayala, Jon Ahjudah Barr
and David Deal with me in the middle, more or less.

Simple gift

I wrote about Buffalo George Toomer on the occasion of his passing several years ago. I was surprised and honored last week to be gifted with his paintbrush box, complete with his partly smoked cigar and 4B pencil.

Thanks to his son for this honor. I was and I still am pretty much speechless.

Cattle at home

Over the holidays I was priviledged to have the opportunity to see two of my paintings from the Cattle Series at their homes. They hang catty-cornered (cattle-cornered? Sorry) from each other.
