Off to 7000 Feet

I'm loading up the last pieces to take with me for my show at Copper Moon Gallery in Taos, opening this weekend. These paintings are acrylic on canvas, 24 by 36 inches. The drawings are all pencil on paper, 11 by 9 inches, either horizontal or vertical.

"Squabbling Magpies"

"Bison de Oro".

"Gray Wolf".

"Eagle".

"Elk".

"Red-Tailed Hawk".

"Jackrabbit 3".

We leave shortly, with any luck.

Post "Speedbump Art Tour"

In my last post I mentioned intending to work during the tour, but folks started coming in right at the beginning and it didn't stop until after the end. It was a good day, with good collectors, good neighbors and good friends, often all rolled into one. (These photos were taken with an ipad, so they're kind of fuzzy.)

Great thanks to everyone who came out. Now, on to Taos next weekend.

SpeedBump Art Tour

Like Junebugs, wildflowers and other things associated with the month of May the annual Oak Cliff SpeedBump Art Tour happens tomorrow, Saturday, May 17.

My place is on the tour, as usual. Here's the website and here's some publicity, with a deserved starring role by organizers Chuck and George, by the local independent weekly, the Dallas Observer. I'll post photos here if I get the chance to take any. I plan on working during the tour, greeting and talking to whoever comes by, of course. But I do need to paint. So visitors will see a working studio this time.

Some by if you're in the area.

A lot going on

But as Ricky Slade, played by Vince Vaughn in the movie, "Made", said, "There always is, isn't there? A lot going on?" Anyway, it's kept me from checking in here in awhile. I missed April completely.

Images of my studio space have appeared in two art blogs, one by Altpick.com and again in "Out the Window", aka devicecircle.blogspot.com, by art aficionado and friend Rodney Rogers whose other blog, “art” can be followed at this link.

Meanwhile, new paintings are done, with a few more to come, for the Taos show, which has dominated my attention.

"Coyote de Oro", 12 by 12 inches, acrylic on canvas.

"Morning Quail", 8 by 10 inches, acrylic on canvas.

"Mountain Blue Jay", 20 by 16 inches, acrylic on canvas.

"Pollinating Bee", 8 by 8 inches, acrylic on canvas.

"Ladybug on a Petal", 8 by 8 inches, acrylic on canvas.

"Mission Bell", 8 by 8 inches, acrylic on canvas.

"Purple Aster", 8 by 8 inches, acrylic on canvas.

"Thistle", 8 by 8 inches, acrylic on canvas.

The opening is May 24, 5 - 7 pm, at Copper Moon Gallery, in beautiful Taos, New Mexico.
