David Lesh

I heard Friday that David Lesh, an innovative illustrator for 30+ years, left us after a brief illness.

I knew Dave only slightly, but my encounters with him were always positive. He was a hero in the communication arts field for his tireless and personally costly battle to save the illustration industry from itself.

I always admired his work, with its simple but strong conceptual foundation and his inventive use of media. My very sincerest condolences go out to his other friends and family.

Here is the David Lesh web site. Enjoy his work as much as he obviously enjoyed making it.

"Inside and Out", illustrated.

Here's an example of the "Inside" for my September, 2013 show at Norwood Flynn Gallery in Dallas.

"Invented Flower with Fruit" 10 by 8 inches, acrylic on panel.

And here's an example of "Out".

"Another Magpie" 9 by 12 inches, acrylic on panel.

Still working, I'll continue to post images as I go along.

"A Magpie" at home

A collector purchased "A Magpie" at my stop on the Speedbump Art Tour and was kind enough to send a photo of it installed. It hangs in a window looking out on her garden. This was taken at night, I think, so here the garden can't be seen, but the "Magpie" can. Nice collection of clay pots below it. Thanks to its new owner for sending the photo. I always love to see them.
